Budleigh Past and Present

Camellia Japonica 'Scentsation' Blessed with our micro-climate here in Budleigh the gardens are beginning to spring into life and I'm looking forward to seeing wonderful rose-like flowers on all the camellias that I planted last year. I still feel bad about the ones that I murdered through neglect when we lived on the limey soil of Northamptonshire. Here in East Devon ericaceous plants like rhododendrons, azaleas and camellias flourish like weeds in the acidic soil. But then, so do the weeds in the damp mild climate, as do the slugs and snails.
