Holiday homes to let, and your own deck chairs as well!

Budleigh Salterton’s popularity as a holiday destination has been confirmed by the arrival in the town of yet another letting company which has just added two more properties to its portfolio. Both are in great locations just seconds from the beach and have just become available.

The Cottage Company Devon which opened a shop in Fore Street in April specializes in offering unique and stylish homes for self-catering visitors. The two latest properties bring to a total of nine the number of holiday lets in Budleigh handled by Exeter-based businesswoman Kate Looker. Sitting pretty: Kate Looker and her husband Guy (above) relax in their custom-made deckchairs outside The Cottage Company Devon shop on Fore Street. Eddie the labrador seems a bit camera-shy.

The Blue House, which sleeps five, is described as a delightful period property which combines Regency elegance with modern comforts - in an unbeatable location. “A real gem with stunning sea views,” says Kate. “In addition to a pretty and secluded front garden, The Blue House also has additional private gardens that lead directly to the beach giving you the perfect spot to enjoy a drink in the evening - enjoy those uninterrupted sea views - and watch the world go by.” http://www.thecottagecompanydevon.co.uk/The-Blue-House-Luxury-Accommodation-in-Budleigh-Salterton-Devon.html

Cliff Edge House, which sleeps six to eight people is a four-bedroom property in a similarly special location just moments from the beach – “perfect for all the family”, as it is described. The house has been praised for its open feel, with a combination of wood flooring and bright ‘seaside' décor, and also benefits from lots of space, with a private driveway and parking for two cars. http://www.thecottagecompanydevon.co.uk/Cliff-Edge-House-Luxury-Self-Catering-Holiday-Cottages-in-Budleigh-Salterton-Devon.html

Kate moved to Devon in 2005, drawn by the delights of its beaches and the opportunity to manage a group of 5 star cottages as The Thatched Cottage Company. With a Business degree and a background in Public Relations, she found her way to Devon via Bath, London and the British Virgin Islands, where she worked with husband Guy at a luxury private resort.

Following the recent arrival of their daughter, Kate decided to branch out on her own with the new company and is excited about adding new properties to her expanding portfolio. She enjoys a close relationship with the property owners, having often been involved in the whole process, from refurbishment to rental.

When she's not juggling work and home life, Kate enjoys walks with black Labrador Eddie, beach BBQs and attempting to surf. Husband Guy's new interest is clay pigeon shooting and he is currently learning to wake board.
The shop on Fore Street stocks a variety of beach essentials and holiday home wares including wind breaks, beach BBQs, children's beach wear and deck chairs, including specially commissioned designs. Kate explains that she sourced a number of hardwood deckchair frames and found a local Devon based company to produce handmade one off deckchair slips and head pillows, offering a range of patterns from dogs to spots.
“We were recently asked to create a MR & MRS pair of deckchairs for a wedding gift and are now starting to get requests for other custom designs.”

The shop’s opening times are: Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. Saturday opening is by arrangement.
