Voces8 in Budleigh

Saturday 29 August 2009 at 7.30 pm St Peter’s Church, Budleigh Salterton

The award-winning octet, VOCES8, has established itself as the foremost young British a cappella group performing a repertoire ranging from early polyphony to unique jazz and popular arrangements.

Founded in 2001, the group first achieved success in 2005, winning first prize at the International Choral Grand Prix in Gorizia, Italy. Since then VOCES8 has performed widely in the UK, throughout Europe, the USA and Africa, and has been praised for “stunning performance” and “exquisite singing.” They have appeared at the Wigmore Hall, Alexandra Palace, St John’s, Smith Square, the Royal Festival Hall and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
VOCES8 broadcasts internationally on television and radio and has made a number of acclaimed live recordings for Deutschlandradio Kultur at Wartburg Castle. Recently they made their first appearance in Beijing at the National Centre for the Performing Arts.
VOCES8 performed at Exeter Cathedral at the beginning of this year to great critical acclaim. This is a chance for either a second hearing or hearing them if you missed them the first time. Either way you will not regret it! The programme is not the same.

Tickets: £12.50 (half price for full-time students) may be purchased from the Lawn Bakery or Lesley’s in Budleigh Salterton; the Tourist Information Centre, by the Swimming Pool in Sidmouth; Eagle House, 44 The Strand, in Exmouth; and at Opus Classical in the Guildhall Centre, Exeter.
